How it works
DetectGPT does not log into ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, or Gemini. It never sees the prompt. It reads the finished words and scores how much they look like language-model output.
1. Paste a draft or a URL
Use Analyze text for anything you can copy. Stay between 30 and 3,000 words. Short scraps are noise. Longer papers should go in chunks. Analyze URL pulls readable text from a public page, including a homepage. Login walls, PDFs, and apps will not work.
2. We score the whole piece
The percentage is the share of the prose that still sounds machine-made: even sentence length, safe wording, stock transitions, a flat rhythm. Forty percent means a chunk of the draft still talks like a model. It does not mean a 40% chance you cheated.
3. Lines light up
Only about that same share of the text is marked. Yellow is mixed. Orange is likelier. Red is the stiffest. Unmarked lines are the rest. Start rewriting with red and orange.
4. You edit. We do not.
DetectGPT does not rewrite the draft. Keep a copy, change the voice, run it again if you want. A detector is a pass, not permission, and not a match for a campus report.
