This page explains what DetectGPT collects when you use detectgpt.io. We try to collect as little as we can.

Drafts you paste

Text you type or paste is scored in your browser for the AI writing check. If you run the overlap / plagiarism check, that text is sent to a third-party checker (RapidAPI Plagiarism Checker AI) so it can compare phrases against public web pages. We do not need an account, and we do not ask you to create one. Do not paste material you would not put in any other web form.

URLs you submit

If you use Analyze URL, our servers fetch that public page so we can extract readable text and return it to you. We request only http and https pages. We block private and local addresses. Do not submit URLs you are not allowed to fetch.

Contact mail

If you write us, we receive whatever you put in the message, including your name and email. We use that to reply. We do not sell it.

Logs, cookies, and analytics

Hosting may keep ordinary server logs (time, path, browser, IP) for security and uptime. The live site may use a small cookie or similar for the session if we add sign-in later. Today the checker itself does not require a cookie to run a score.

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are opened, roughly where visits come from, and which device types show up, so we can tell if the site is working. Google sets its own cookies for that measurement. IP addresses sent with those hits are anonymized in the tag. We do not use Analytics to read the drafts you paste. Google’s explanation is in their privacy policy.

Third parties

The site loads Google Analytics and may load fonts or hosting infrastructure from other vendors. Overlap checks are processed by RapidAPI’s plagiarism checker, which has its own policy. Those vendors have their own policies. We do not sell personal information.

Children

DetectGPT is not aimed at children under 13. Do not use it if you are under 13.
